Can Security Appliance Turn VARs into MSPs?
The VAR Guy is catching up on email from a few old sources. One of them mentioned that Astaro Corporation, which develops unified threat management (UTM) security appliances, has launched a Managed Service Provider Program.
The company’s security gateway leverages open source and commercial software to deliver network security (firewall, VPN and intrusion protection) Web security (spyware protection, virus protection for the Web and content filtering), and e-mail security (virus protection for email, email encryption, spam protection, and phishing protection).
MSPs can purchase the full suite or various security modules. The MSP, in turn, can charge customers a one-time fee or ongoing monthly fees to manage the security system. But VARs and MSPs have to complete the Astaro certification process.
Boy, this blog entry almost reads like a press release. The VAR Guy says sorry; lack of sleep sometimes leads to lack of creativity.
