Novell’s “Macintosh” Ads Are A Hit…
The VAR Guy just had dinner with a buddy of his. Call him The Network Guy, a savvy IT manager who just returned from Novell’s Brainshare. Lots of info to share from the show. Stay tuned for updates over the weekend. But the hit of the event appears to be Novell advertisements that poke fun at the current “Hello, I’m a Mac…” television ads. The VAR Guy loves ’em. If Novell throws these ads on CNBC, he suspects the company could have a hit on its hands.
These ads are FANTASTIC and got huge applause at BrainShare. VAR Guy: Nice to see you had something nice to say about NOVL
Looks like Novell is finally getting their act
together;it’s a matter of time before the stock took off.
Gopal Reddi: I beg to differ. Nice to see Novell doing some very good marketing for a change. But Linux is still a small percentage of Novell’s business. Why would the stock take off when Novell’s overall sales and profits are mixed at best? A healthy Novell is good for customers and leads to good Linux competition. But it’s far, far too early to say Novell’s stock is going to take off.
Novell does some good things for Linux (technical things), but also bad things. Overall, we are better off without that deal. As long as they stick to it, we may also be better off without Novell.
