Video Surveillance Meets Wireless Mesh
The VAR Guy hears it over and over again: One of the next killer applications for IT consultants is video surveillance deployed within a city wireless mesh solution. That was a big theme at the Cisco Partner Summit in early April. And it’s a growing theme among IT consultants, including those that partner with Firetide Inc., a wireless mesh vendor.
Even distributors are now connecting wireless mesh and video surveillance into bundled solutions.. In fact, Firetide has inked a strategic partnership with Anixter to extend wireless solutions to voice, video, data and security systems. Naturally, the relationship targets cities and counties deploying public safety WiFi applications.
Eager adopters include the Phoenix police department, which uses Firetide solutions for its real-time video surveillance system. Avrio Group, an integrator in Washington, D.C, Surprise, Ariz., and other areas, designed the system for Phoenix.
Forgive The VAR Guy for the following shameless plug … but if you’d like to learn more about video surveillance and wireless mesh, check out the MuniWireless 2007: New England event (June 3-5).
This sounds like a good solution, if it works. I would like to see this in action.
