Cisco: The Week of Unified Applications?
As Cisco Systems kicks off its big Partner Summit in Hawaii, The VAR Guy wonders: Is this the week we finally see and hear dozens of application providers line up behind Cisco’s unified communications strategy?
On the one hand, Cisco is the company to beat in unified communications. And Cisco has done a reasonably good job describing how Salesforce.com and other ISVs (independent software vendors) plan to support unified communications.
But on the other hand, Microsoft remains the king of ISV relations. So, the unified communications market is largely a battle between Cisco solutions providers vs. Microsoft ISVs, The VAR Guy believes.
Alas, The VAR Guy couldn’t make it to Hawaii for Cisco Partner Summit this week. But he’s a got a few spies at the conference, and he hopes to hear more — far more — about Cisco’s ISV strategy for unified communications.
Regular updates from the conference begin here on Wednesday.
