MIT Clarifies Position on Vista
Did MIT ban deployments of Windows Vista? Not quite. At least one trade magazine says “Vista Flunks at MIT,” but the university tells The VAR Guy that’s not really the case.
In reality, MIT is waiting for several applications–including a Tivoli backup client, Cisco VPN client, and McAfee antiviral client–to be fully tested before endorsing Vista deployments. Sounds reasonable. You’ll find MIT’s perspective on Vista here.
Lots of misinformation about this all over the web. MIT is smart to hold off on deployments until they can really test Vista. I would never tell a customer to deploy now. It’s a “1.0” release.
