Add Dollars, Customer Loyalty through IP Video Conferencing
Videoconferencing can be a great way to grow residuals and provide a new service that small and medium businesses might not otherwise be able to afford. That will be the focus of todays session Lights, Camera, Action: Desktop Conferencing is a Multimedia Experience featuring Susan Kinney-Mantione, general manager of master agent Global Systems Telecom Inc.
Global Systems Telecom is one of two distributors of VidRev Technologies Inc.s desktop video conferencing service. The product is aimed at multilocation small and medium businesses and provides low-cost, TV-quality video communications capabilities that can be used for internal or external training purposes, says Kinney-Mantione.
For channel partners, this means they can offer video conferencing at far more affordable prices than are possible with expensive solutions from Polycom and other vendors. So it brings it downmarket, says Kinney-Mantione.
Global Systems Telecom offers a 20 percent residual on the product. It also provides channel partners with a Web link, which can be branded by that rep, through which customers can sign up for the services. Theres also an online operating system that the agent/wholesaler can use to see what customers are using service and to manage the back office.
The video conferencing service requires the user to have a 128kbps or higher network connection; a Webcam, which the user can provide or which can be provided by Global Systems Telecom through the channel partner; a headset or noise-canceling microphone; and a thin client, which the user downloads to his or her PC.
There are two flavors of the service. The five-person package sells to SMB customers for $99.95 per month, unlimited usage. The 11-person option goes for $179.95 per month unlimited. There are no upfront costs.
