McAfee Channel Blog: Double Secret Endpoint Security Strategy?
Is McAfee, an Intel (INTC) company, about to change the endpoint security conversation with channel partners? It sure looks like it — assuming you happen to notice a bread crumb trail of evidence. Follow the trail and you might wind up at McAfee Channel Chief Gavin Struthers' door. Here's the evidence so far — and the potential implications for channel partners.
You already know the basics: Traditional anti-virus protection is old news. Endpoint security is evolving. To drive home the point, McAfee has launched a five-part series blog called Redefining Endpoint Security. The topics covered so far:
- RealTime for ePO – Optimized Endpoint Security
- Moving Beyond Preventative Moat and Drawbridge Point Product Protection
- How to Tell the Channel Press Something is Coming Without Issuing A Press Release
- Faber College Endpoint Security Case Study: "Greg, honey, IT security is not supposed to be that soft."
- 1970s Movie References, Technology Blogging and Endpoint Security: Why Millennials Don't Get It
Huh?
Okay, forgive The VAR Guy for items 3-5. But Numbers 1 and 2 are legitimate. And it sounds like McAfee is preparing to drop some more bread crumb clues in the next few days (blogs 3-5).
So what could the company be working on? A new suite, er, sweet idea for channel partners with plenty of incentives along the way? Hmmm…
Follow the McAfee bread crumbs, folks. It looks like this author is the one dropping all the clues. And ultimately, it's a safe bet the clues will lead back to Channel Chief Gavin Struthers' door. But don't stop there. Look inside Struthers' office and you'll likely notice more bread crumbs. Perhaps he recently had some company over. Briefings with profit-focused channel partners, perhaps?
Hmmm…
