Korean device manufacturer Samsung is making an enterprise mobility play with Samsung 360 Services for Business, a suite of services aimed at business customers that spans mobility support, enterprise mobility management (EMM), deployment, security, applications and device maintenance.
Samsung said it’s currently piloting the program with a number of Fortune 1000 companies with plans to take it to a wider global audience early next year. Samsung said the test period will help it craft solutions that meet businesses’ needs across multiple industries.
The vendor already has expansion plans in place for its new mobility services portfolio. Out of the gate the initiative will concentrate on mobility services and products but ultimately it will widen to include covering a wide array of mobile devices used in the enterprise.
“We’ve listened closely to our customers when they talk about their pain points,” said Robin Bienfait, Samsung chief enterprise innovation officer. “They struggle to manage the complexities of BYOD and mixed-device environments. Through Samsung 360 Services, we can provide ‘one hand to shake’ as a technology collaborator with unmatched global reach, a worldwide network of talent and a drive to innovate that is in the very fabric of Samsung.”
Here’s what the Samsung 360 Services for Business includes:
- Technical support/service desk: Tier 3 technical support, Samsung Knox license management and container support, EMM license management and platform services. 12/5 or 24/7 support is available, with customer portal and remote access support.
- Application support: Enterprise application developer training, development consultation, application migration and file syncing and sharing services.
- Security support: Enterprise with mobile health checks, mobile architecture, security review, mobile security assessment and mobile security policy assessment.
- Deployment support: Support for Samsung device provisioning, maintenance and upgrades, maintenance release of EMM platforms, migration to new EMM platforms and EMM upgrades.
- Samsung MobileCare for Enterprise: Extended repair and warranty for Samsung devices.
Samsung is promising customers a single point of contact and a team of enterprise specialists to help manage and support a range of devices, services and solutions.
The mobile device maker is but the latest in a lengthening line of vendors to polish their enterprise mobility outfits. In July, Apple (AAPL) and IBM (IBM) pledged to work together for each other’s benefit in a new enterprise mobility initiative to build industry-specific business apps for iOS-based mobile devices.
And, in August AT&T (T) joined its Mobility and Business Solutions groups under one umbrella to concentrate on delivering integrated mobility solutions for enterprise customers.
